The Surface Mine Advisory Committee (SMAC) is a broad-based group, comprising large and small mining interests, industry technical consultants, county and state government, and environmental stakeholders. DNR convenes the committee intermittently to share ideas and concepts related to mining and reclamation, and occasionally discuss language for proposed legislative changes.
