State Mapping Advisory Committee

Each year, the Washington Geological Survey (WGS) writes a proposal to the US Geological Survey to map several 7.5-minute quadrangles as part of their National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program called 'STATEMAP.' To ensure the societal relevance of the mapping, WGS convenes a varied group of stakeholders for consultation purposes in this process. The State Mapping Advisory Committee forms stakeholder consensus about the near-term, medium-term, and long-term mapping that is conducted in Washington State with the desire that the plan hopefully addresses the needs of each of the major stakeholder groups.
